  1. Mike,
I remember when your Mom came down to visit us back at the Hamlets in Alexandria, VA, ages ago in the early 1980s. It was some special occasion and you had to wear a suit–remember that? As you only had a wardrobe of shorts, t-shirts, and flip-flops, you had to borrow your wardrobe from Joe and me, including: white shirt, tie, black socks, shoes, belt, and even my briefcase!! When your Mom arrived, I told her that is way you always dressed for work. She looked at me, smiled, and said: “I don’t think so…” with a sparkle in her eyes. It was so funny. 🙂
I’m so glad to hear that you are feeling GREAT as you approach the next round of therapy!
Your strong Positive Energy is working!

    1. Hi Bill,
You will be happy to know Mike still does not own a suit. And he definitely does not have a briefcase. A pannier or two, but I’m the only one in our family with a briefcase. My guess is he is the same Mike you knew way back when. Another thing that never changed was that sparkle in Mike’s Mom’s eyes!

  2. Thanks for the beautiful photo and the advice we should all listen to from “Mr. Heil”…Slow down! Smell the roses! Look around and see the beauty as to where we are right now and even though we may not enjoy this part of our lives…learn to enjoy the process, both good and bad because there are lessens to be learned! I love our talks, our time together and you! What an inspiration it ALWAYS is to be around you. Looking forward to tonight! xo

  3. Mike,
Thank you for all of your updates and positive vibes you have given us all.
I too agree that it is so important to slow down and smell the roses and really enjoy the people and places around us. The older I get I find myself really embracing that phrase. I think that is why I love to bike so much. I can really see and enjoy what nature has to offer. Thanks for all the times you have encouraged me and made me believe in myself. What a great brother!
I love the picture of you and Mom, it is wonderful to see both of you enjoying the serenity of nature. I know how special those moments are with Mom.

    Love,
    Linda

  4. Hey Mikey! The picture of you and your mom in that row boat with those peaks behind you was fabulous! Moms rock. When I saw your mom in the picture, I was reminded of when she came out to the farm for a visit. She sat on that bucket she carried around because she got tired now and then. She sat in front of my pumpkin patch and picked out pumpkins for herself and two others for Steven and Rich….gotta love her. I’ll be thinking of you tomorrow as you and Laurie travel to Portland.

When I read your posts I can feel the enormous positive energy in your words. As those words lift you, they trickle down to me. Thank you for that.

    Brazos a tu alrededor,
    Lana

  5. Looks like you are trying to exhaust those cancer cells. Good plan. If that doesn’t work you can just wise crack them into submission. That was pretty effective with your math students.
