8am: Good Morning, Happy May Day! Real time post coming your way….
My current journey is opening up all kinds of new doors. Imagine just a few months ago Mike developing smart phone skills, having a medical oncologist on his team and blogging. Wow!
Since the feedback on the blog site has been so overwhelmingly positive, I will dedicate effort to keeping it current and fun. That said, I have hit a minor snag so today’s post will simply be this real time message: “Thank You All for your heartfelt, warm, touching words, prayers, sentiments and offers of help”. It so incredible to feel you are out there sending those loving, supportive vibes. I wonder if this is the principle reason as to why I feel so good these days!
The photo is of early this morning as Laurie and I lent our support to the folks running in the annual Eugene Marathon.
Hey Michael.
I hope you don’t mind that our friend David Goodman forwarded to me your blog.
You know how fond I have become of your smiles and supportive commentary this past year so I really want to be part of your cheerleading team! I have gone through cancer treatment sagas with my son, so am somewhat aware of the possible journey one may take. So on that note I am certainly sending you some extra positive energy to saddle to yours, which as most of us know, is the greatest in the land. You are one in a million that walks amongst us Michael so I want to keep it that way. If you find there is something I could possibly Help with, by all means let me have it.
Your good friend,
Anne
Hi Michael,
Ree sent me a quick email last night with a link to your blog. I read it last night/early morning in Maryland. Aunt Helen just read it. You have been in our thoughts and prayers since we heard the news. We’ve enjoyed seeing your pictures. . . 60 years old ~ NO WAY! Thank you for taking the time to keep us updated. We’ll keep checking in. . .
Love to you and Laurie,
Aunt Helen & Michele : )
. . . special memories of seeing you and Laurie at the Dallas airport
Jersey Mike,
Just got the e-mail & read the blog. Bummer Dude. How annoying to have to deal with. You’ll get through this and we’ll all have a laugh about it when it’s over with. Thank you for writing the blog to keep us informed. If there’s anything I can do, please don’t hesitate to ask. Maybe I could set up the television in the living room and we could watch football all day long once the season starts. The Packers are going to be good this year. And while the research is still inconclusive, anecdotal evidence points to a correlation between watching sports on TV and fighting cancer. Think of it as a type of treatment (probably falls into the “eastern medicine” category). I’m sure Laurie won’t mind at all. Take care Bro
Mike and Laurie, thank you for making the effort to tell us all about how Mike’s cancer is affecting your lives. It’s important to care about friends, and still put your time into treatment and daily health. The blog really tells your story for all the rest of us, so thank you. We’ve thought of you on your other travels, and now on this trip too. One of the best parts has been all the people who pitched in to help you. That’s because you’ve been good friends, and so are they. Our very best wishes to both of you.
Hello Michael,
Just received your email today May 3rd, and was shocked to receive the news. But it sounds like you have an excellent plan of attack to combat and beat this thing! You always had a knack for planing and developing a winner. Perhaps that is why you ALWAYS beat me at tennis!
I remember the great times we had back in Virginia when all of us were roommates at the Hamlets Apartments # 303 and the three girls were next door. Those were some WILD parties we had back in the early 1980s! New Year’s, Superbowl, July 4th, Halloween, really any reason for a party!
I remember you planning your first bike ride from our apartment to your job up in Maryland. And what about your first ride on a submarine down in the Caribbean? And I remember you telling the story of you getting on the sub to meet the Captain in your standard dress apparel of shorts and flip-flops!
You were my training coach when I started running and you always said: “Delta H = Zero” when the Virginia hills started to get to steep for me. Joe Mahoney used to love that term! 🙂
I’ve been involved with meditation and the value of Positive Energy since the 1970s, and I’m glad to hear you still have high levels of Positive Energy for your fight. As my current teacher says: “Where the mind goes, the Energy flows.” All our thoughts and prayers are with you my Friend!
Best Wishes!
W.D.
Thank you, Bill. You bring back the fondest memories of a different lifetime; such a long, long time ago. So cool! You continue to be the gentle, guiding soul I remember. Bravo!
There must be a principle that “positive energy begets positive energy”. If not, I hereby declare that the Mike principle. The positive energy you share with all of us, Mike, multiples many times over. Then Add Laurie’s grace and…well it is a fantastic potion.
Dear Mike and Laurie, Thank you for keeping us up to date, we are faithful readers and you are in our thoughts every day. Mike, I have some fantastic organic dried italian plums that are loaded with sunshine and good energy. They will appear on your front porch on Monday morning. Love Norene and Lloyd
